Yeah Tiger but the all important PROFIT was up 116% for the quarter compared to 3rd quarter and gross profit up over 1000% from same time last year. Isn't that progress?

Profitability is the key and they are well on their way.

Frank

I think the business model and products available for sale in 98' may not have gotten much of a push by XMAS 98' . Reasons, purchasers don't have time to last minute shop with the possibly not getting the goods delivered on time . Secondly US recognition of BII grew only very late in the fall 98'. Thirdly the process of auction requires time to confirm your purchase. X MAS 99' could be very different due to more gift style offerings , better lead times ,proven delivery systems , proposed business model changes, consumers becoming more comfortable with the auction format. ZNET stated all sales on Inet going to the auction format eventually. .

Tiger,
Since 90% of the customers are from the U.S., and Bid.com does not reach the U.S. via advertising as it does in Canada, do you think this could account for the discrepancy between the other U.S. auction sites and Bid.com?
I have heard you all say that there are shop naked bill boards and radio advertisements about Bid.com in Canada. Aside from seeing the name on Aol a couple of times, I would never know they exist. You know how many times you have to advertise to reach a customer? They say quite a few times before the name is remembered.
Bid.com needs more exposure to potential customers in the U.S. and there is only one way to do that. ADVERTISE! I know it costs, but how else will you reach customers? Plus, with the competition they have in the U.S. for Inet auctions, they must establish their uniqueness with the Dutch auction, sports cards, etc.

Tiger- I totally agree with you about the 4th quarter sales as compared to 3rd quarter sales. I also expected sales of at least 9 million. Going from 6.3 to 6.4 million is absolutely horrible. This tells me that they will have a hard time competing with the big companies in the U.S. I dumped all 30,000 shares at the open and will only buy back at 4.00 or lower which I believe will happen real soon. Increased volume and a decline in the stock price of $.40 tells me I'm not the only one that was disappointed.
