No, not 6 weeks, maybe 6 wks. from the announcement date. Deal closes 4/2, money will be in your a/c within 2 weeks from there. Also, what do mean "not wanting to pay cap. gains"? you gotta'pay on what you made, or the tax man will hunt you down, remember this is for next years taxes, you have plenty of time to take losses.

I got the ALA package the other day, and the tender instructions from Schwab yesterday. Tendered my shares by touchtone phone. Recording said cash would be in my account in two days.

I'm not crazy about the cash deal, but I'm sure by the end of the year I'll have a few trades that will nullify some of the gains.

Luckily some of my shares were in my IRA as well.

Anyone holding out for a better deal?
