Here are some links for the new names at the June conference.... Storage Resource Managerâ„¢ Enterprise Edition Now Availablehighground.com "Retrieve has dramatically increased capabilities by augmenting SCSI and Fibre Channel with a data-sharing solution," says Thompson. "Server Area Network (SAN) is emerging as the data storage environment of choice for end users. But despite great advances and strengths, SAN lacks the ability to share data and storage dynamically with a full range of hosts. Until today."retrieveinc.com Formerly a strategic business unit of AT&T Network Systems, CommVault was founded in 1988 as an independent section of Bell Laboratories chartered to develop an automatic back-up, archiving and recovery software product for AT&T's own internal use. Over the last decade, CommVault Systems has experienced immense growth and increasing demand for its expanding storage management solutions. From commercializing its storage technology solutions in 1989 under Bell Laboratories to becoming an independent, privately owned company on May 22, 1996, CommVault Systems has become a $36 million dollar organization. commvault.com Lots of FC storage management software on display here. The slides of the FCA DEC meeting underscored the importance of test beds in Oracle...hence the highlight on their interesting comments...... ome advocate the migration of application, operating system, and database functionality from the host to the storage subsystem. This sounds very significant, can anyone in the biz offer futher comments and thoughts. How would this work, ie OS, apps, directly on a SAN? Is it possible soon? Note: It is hard to understand who goes to which events. No EMC, no ANCR, no Hitachi, No EDS. Perhaps they are not sponsoring the conference and have their own shows.....but always makes me nervous to see lack of attendance...is it significant?
