Jim,
OK!
I'll jump on ya for the post!
Cause it's D.B. Cooper not CJ Cooper!
So there!
Personally I hate the way the media avoids any responsibility for any of this stuff!
B-Berg never said anything about what they might do to keep it from happening again or about how they or Yahoo have any responsibility to people to do a better job with security!!!
They simply play their poor victim role and play it up without giving any information, that PAIR is a reputable company, they simply sensationalize and sell and act as though they have no responsibility to present any other side of the issues here!
I mean after all!! The media look at their own sh*t with hype????
Kernnan Faber and all the prostitutes in the media??? I mean hell!
Them act responsabily??????
Personally? I think these people are the real scum!!!!!
So there ya are!!!
That should get ya off the hook for likin' outlaws!!!
At least the Outlaws will own the fact that that's what they are!!!
The media? They cover their Crap under the label of free speech!
It's ok if they lie by omission! But let an outlaw do it and their noses get outta joint!!
Not happy with the bogus release but I gotta tell ya! The media to me is a far worse and more scary problem!
BTW Did anyone notice in the WSJ article where they voiced concern for the company or the shareholders? I didn't! And yet the alleged reporter came on the thread yesterday, as if she gave a sh*t what happened to the shareholders??? PLEASE!!! Give me a break!!!!
As usual!
Also gotta say! People on SI did a great job with pickin' the thing apart! Did the media figure it out that fast?
Nope!
"That's just my opinion. I could be wrong!"
Your buddy,
Jay

It was DB Cooper.
He hijacked and jumped out of a 727.
727's use to have functioning rear doors.
After the hijack, 727's rear doors were sealed.

Never found DB Cooper.
Burnt money was found in sand/mud of the Columbia River near Vancouver, WA in the past four or five years. Oh well.

This act was highlighted in the newspaper and electronic media for weeks and months afterwards.

no flame.
just initials. LOL

I'm not impressed with the hoax. I'm impressed with the reaction.

When I first accessed the link, I was puzzled by the fact that the story was a half hour old, the market was open, and PAIR wasn't moving. Clue #2: If you linked to Bloomberg, you couldn't get back to the story from any link. Clue #3: The URL name. Besides not being Bloomberg's, how many news stories will you be able to post with a page title of "topfin.html"? Exactly one. What would they do when the next story comes out?

What is impressive is that with most of this information available by 10am, the stock still traded up all day, on high volume. It's getting down to the overly efficient market, where you know that they know that you know that the story isn't true, and it's already built into the price; NOT!!!

Now PAIR will probably be acquired, proving that the wise investor should "buy on the hoax, sell on the self fulfilled prophecy."

Sheep are so easily impressed and have such a willingness to follow.

As you state, "They suckered me good, and I gotta give 'em credit..." Such a low requirement for impressing you? Hopefully, although I'm probably wrong, most people don't have such a low measurement tool.

Lying is so easy. "They knew enough about the two companies to make a pretty darn good story of it..." All quality lies have truth woven into them. Just enough truth to get us to nibble on the hook on the way to biting down hard.

Hollywood owns your mind regarding Bonnie & Clyde. Pick up a book on the subject and I think you'd change your opinion. The truth I hope would change it.

Let's raise our requirements for allowing ourselves to be impressed.

Lying is just so easy and people are such an easy target.

Re: "They suckered me good, and I gotta give 'em credit. I await your flame"

Jim I did not come to flame you. I have a different point of view about this hoax. You see I am invested in both PAIR and CBS and it just so happens that on the very same day both of these had risen due to take over rumors that were presented in a very real fashion by the press -not to say the press intentionally play it- but they were the instrument of stock manipulation by whom I do not know. Fortunately I was on the correct end this time, not always the case.

CBS's rumor was more of speculation from an announcement that a Major media event concerning the internet was scheduled for 10:30 Wednesday. Prior to this short announcement there was a story this past Monday from an online version of a newspaper gossip columnist that AOL was in talks to buy CBS. Here are the two stories so's I don't get accused of spreading falsehoods.

Here is a line from the second story which leads one on:

"Earlier, Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, a public relations firm with close ties to America Online had issued an advisory announcing the news conference."

Notice how a speculator (who of course has been warned many times about trading off rumors) can become enticed by the PR firm having close ties with AOL but not mentioning who's involved in the "big release" which will occur on the following day.

biz.yahoo.com
biz.yahoo.com

Oh well the deal hasn't happened but left CBS with hopeful investor's and share HOLDERS! I suspect this to be PAIR's case as well lots more holders since it's rumor which keep people hopeful.

So I wouldn't refer to you as one of those weak sheep followers I would just refer to you as a normal red blooded American opportunist, one of many!

LOL and hope your on the right side of the next rumor.

Let me say I found nothing to admire about the con job on Pair (and ECILF, for that matter). The internet has become home to pump and dump artists, boiler room shops, etc. Every conperson (politically correct terminology) from here to Timbuckto is probably right now working up schemes to bilk the internet public. It's no different than the endless scams worked on seniors by telephone. And there is nothing to admire about that crowd. Sure, let the buyer beware but the fact is that it may get so persuasive that the internet will lose much of its credibility. Maybe it will become a boon for the full service brokers to bring back some of their nervous customers. I don't know and have no answers for it. But I do think that the service providers do have a responsibity beyond hiding beyond a "free press" slogan.
