Are you proposing confiscation of firearms?

James,

I once spent some time in Taiwan while working
for the US Federal Government. While there, I
discovered that Taiwan was a police state with
absolute gun control. Furthermore, since it is
an island nation, it shares no borders and has
almost a fanatical sense of defense against
Communism. Despite the ability to control guns
through the government and the strict penalties
against gun possesion, they are (and still are)
in the midst of a major crime wave with guns
being the primary weapon of choice. In fact,
they executed 93 people in 1990 for gun crime.
They are perplexed as to how this can occur.
The fact that we must understand is that even
with strict gun control, the criminals will still
get them, some how, some way, and will use them
on the innocent. Gun control is no panacea for
violence. The solution must come some other way.
