It's my understanding from the press I've read that the TGX-8750 functionality is available in other Cisco products including the MGX and that the need for the TGX is redundant - perhaps because of coming announcements on other platforms. Even so, this turn of events has no bearing on my original assertion about multiservice edges. The TGX was positioned more into the core - an area which Cisco does a lousy job of competing today.

The latest reports from Cisco are saying ATM growth is not important as compared to IP. Voice and data convergence is not that a high priority among customers. HUH ???!!
Wasnt Cisco the one pushing this convergence as their growth driver ? What are they then selling to the Carriers ? And whats the next growth driver they have ? Retail/Home networking with margins of 45-50 ?
Can anyone explain to me why IP growth will not translate to ATM growth which is powering the Backbone ?
This sounds like more BS coming from Cisco now that they have no competitive ATM products for a year.
