I think this is the carrier news in the second quarter that gmgc has talked about, though the price run up you so wonderfully described was I think due much more to rumor of a buyout.

Does anyone have the DJnewswire link describing gmgc today and what do you all make of Microsoft's registration to sell. Have they already done so, been doing so? Some here think it doesn't mean they will sell but it certainly can't be good.

<So I ask, Is This It? If Yes, then please tell me what I'm missing.>

I'd say this is not IT. This is a progression that takes time. The excitement of trading gets in the way of reality. Businesses have to be built.

On the surface, this deal raises many questions about old business models. Clearly, GM wasn't going to survive on it's own. This will make perfect sense. They will reduce their costs and take a flat fee.

They will get credibility and they will be able to develope the next stage of Portico for even greater uses. The key is to get revenues coming in. If they can sell at $29.95 they'll have heaps of recurring money coming in with little effort.

I believe there must be more announcements coming soon. The fact that this deal is exclusive for one year puts the pressure on to get in now.

This deal also says, "BellSouth thinks Portico works!" Think about it. This systems has had credibility issues. Do people want it? Does it function well enough to play for middle america?

This is obviously a key move into a direction that was inevitable. Is this it? Of course not.

Regards,

Mark

Is this it you ask? For those of us who are long enough to hurt, (I started buying at 1.65 and by thinking I could be a trader managed to get 16,000 shares at an average price of more than $8) this news makes it substantially less likely that the company will tank, or be forced to sell at a discount. I am very frustrated at the length of time this is taking, but to date, the technology and the refusal of Markman et al to hype gives me some level of confidence. The market here is huge, and even with dilution, ought to reward us all. I hope to see gold again. Bill I.

>>I have a question for the thread. IS THIS IT? <<

Obviously this is an essential question for many longs that follow this thread, myself included.

My gut says it is a humble beginning of a series of introductory relationship experiences with big companies with huge relationships to end user consumers for whom the whole "Portico Experience" will be tough to swallow, but for whom patience is absolutely necessary.

This won't be easy, but the Bell South "first step" is a critical moment to watch. As a Portico user I can say right off that the likelihood of the average Mom & Pop Bell South user even THINKING of using the service is pretty low. This is a service for the young techie-gadget types or people that REALLY know how to use their voice mail systems (not to mention VCRs) well.

This trial will generate ESSENTIAL data on real MARKET ACCEPTABILITY issues. I think the service is NOT YET READY but what the heck, we've got to get OUT OF THIS HARBOR so cast off the shore lines and full steam please!

Please excuse the run-on sentences; a lot can happen to a person that talks too much to a machine that doesn't listen quite right...
