Apple can buy the bricks and mortar of Apple's franchise stores, for less
than the cost of building it out themselves, by issuing Apple shares in exchange
for CompUSA shares. I own CPU stock and want someone to bail me out.

Do you read this board at Apple management. I posted on Internet messages
boards about AOL buying out Netscape before anyone else did, and was
mostly told, I was off base.(Tripled my money , but did not invest enough)

Now I think Apple can see Gateway succeeding with storefronts. It is cheaper
and better to obtain some good locations that CompUSA already has by buying
CPU while it is cheap. A $12 takeover price will be good enough , or about
$1 bil. in Apple stock is all it will cost Apple.

Sure is a nice day
Michael

HerbVic, I agree as we discussed, this might work. I especially like your idea of making it a franchise. Part of the problem in the overall PC business is that consumers lack the vision to use these powerful computers we have access to. I would include all manner of high end apps and the coolest toys available in the showroom instead of silly marketing loops playing on the box. I'd include art, music, math apps as well top games, etc., that would inspire the consumer to buy computers and use them to their full capability. Course when they got them home they still wouldn't do much with them but at least you would accent higher end machines. Rich

Ran across a link to this while cleaning off my HD getting ready for a new iMac. It was a little off the mark, but interestingly prophetic.

Remember what it was like before there were Apple Retail Stores managed by Apple? When we were at the mercy of Sears, Best Buy, CompUSA and Circuit City? What a difference a decade makes!
