Thanks, Dave. I too bailed out of my Latin American investments, but at the wrong time! That's why I rely on AIM for generating profits, as well as taking the emotions out of my trading. Two funds come to mind; Montgomery emerging markets and Scudder Latin America. I sure wish I was an active AIM trader back then! I'm convinced that the volatility of these two funds would have made some substantial profits for me using AIM. Now it's just a sour memory and a learning experience.

Sincerely,
RFH

Dave,
I agree with your philosophy on International investing. maybe things will change in the future. The concept that foreign markets will provide diversification makes sense, but they haven't provided anything but grief in the last ten years, with a brief period in 1994 or 1995 when they escalated up for almost a year after which they tanked. My idea of international investing is buying stocks in great US companies such as Coke, IBM, Proctor & Gamble, etc. with great international exposure. We avoid the political, social, currency, and other risks of the foreign companies. In addition, it is more difficult for us to get as clear a concept of the non-US companies.
