Think bigger. Some ATYT marketing head was heard in an interview talking about moving 1M chips/WEEK! Don't forget there are strong and weak cycles in the PC industry too.

>> Three "major" OEM deals plus retail could swing 500k units/month, couldn't it?

OT -- I like your opinion on buying a gizmo. I am after a replacement for my sports walkman. The item should be skip free and be able to record music *and* voice. I have narrowed my choices down to minidisk recorders (I'm partial to Sharp MD-MS 722) and an MP3 player/recorder (say Creative's Nomad or Samsung's Yep [sp?]) Could you help me evaluate the two categories.

It seems that I can record longer on the Nomad than on MDs. This is an important feature. On the other hand, I suspect the MD players may be more feature rich. For example, some of them can play back as long as 10 hours, compared to 4.5 hours for the Nomad. Also, I am not sure how long MP3 as a standard can survive, given the music industries paranoia with piracy (and their sharp teeth). Also, I think (though I'm not sure) I can download MP3 music and record it (in ATRAC format) into a MD.

Over all they seem rather equivalent, which is why I can't make up my mind. Also, this is not an area that I've kept up with, so I may be completely blind to some issues (or alternatives).

Any help is appreciated,
Sun Tzu

P.S. Where is a good place to gather info on this topic?
