Hi Colin,

I don't want to get into a pissing match with you abt this
div, but I can tell you for a fact that if you sell now you
will NOT get the div.
Yes the PR does have Mr Tilton saying to get the div you have
to b a record owner on 5-20.He didn't say you could sell it
after 5-20 and still get the div because unless you own the stk
BEFORE the yet to be announced ex div date you are not entitled
to the ddiv.
Also, your div book is in error if it states that the ex date
is 1 day after the record date. In almost 99% of the div's paid
the ex date is 3 days BEFORE the record date. The ex date
determines WHO is entitled to the div, not the record date.
In this TNRG case the ex date is going to be way after the
record date BUT still determines who is ENTITLED to the div.

Big Bear-- re your post --if you sell tdy you better get
the TIPS div-- not going to happen because you won't own
the stk before the ex date.

T A P-- I'm still waiting for you to acknowledge your incorrect
post #7914. Need to buy three (3) days before ex date to get div.
this is wrong, you need to buy anytime before the ex date.Example,
if the ex date is 8 15 you must buy and hold the shs on or before
8-14. Pls acknowledge so at least that point will be cleared up.

Tony

Well......going by your Accounting book definitions and from what
I gather we might all agree (SEC sets the Ex Dividend Date) this statement is misleading to say the least.

"James Tilton, president of TNRG, stated, ....the May 20, 1999 record date ... we still feel that it was in the best interest of
TNRG shareholders who wished to acquire the TIPS dividend shares to have purchased TNRG common stock in the public marketplace on or before May 17, 1999 in order to assure that they would be shareholders of record as at May 20, 1999."

What I believed happened here is that TNRG DID NOT KNOW that in order for them to distribute the TIPS shares they had to register them first as they are shares in another public company. So they go ahead and release a DECLARATION implying of a RECORD DATE and then someone at SEC wakes up and says....you cant do that!

Folks should understand that dividends given out to shareholders in another publicly traded company doesnt go on everyday.....but as I understand it is TNRG's first and more are yet to come.
