IDT scanners in cell phones? Randy mentioned Motorola in the last conference call. "Fingerprint scanners can provide the authentication component of the triumvirate of key security, encryption and authentication." This sounds like the cellular phone application may bypass digital certificates from another vendor and use the fingerprint as the public key, the key for encryption and authentication of the user. I believe that IDX is working with IDT to make the IDT scanner resistant to false finger defeats. Again Digital Persona's URU appears to be our main remaining competition on a feature basis. Fortunately we are much cheaper than them and price will be VERY important for inclusion in cellular phones.

steve, Thanks for digging this up.........I guess it is now an interesting topic? Yes....I think so......and I hope we hear more...... But.......I believe we now have the first Y2K wake up call........thanks to the 60 Minutes story last night......and some Y2K banking downgrades today....(first of many...IMO) Get ready......the financial impact is just beginning to be discussed. Note the "plans" to run around an distribute welfare checks by hand......even though the street lights will not be operating......or mass transit, for that matter.......and they really don't know where the manpower will come from. No welfare checks......no electricity?.......Not a good time to be in urban areas....I would think. And wait till 60 Minutes does a story on the report on China and the Soviet Union........ Good time to be in Idaho.....and have a biometric cell phone. I believe I may finally get some of my city friends to come for a ski visit......right around the first week in January.<g> bg
