Man torn to shreds by Humourists

I have discovered that you can indeed get in serious trouble with this .
---------------------------------
A metal worker from Yuma, Arizona endeavored to make counterfeit pennies. These were close, but not perfect, copies -- in fact, they were a little weird-looking. As a result, he was easily caught.

They hung the man for his strange cents of Yuma. It could happen to me.
---------------------------------
I have long used this little story to explain my fascination and predilection for puns. It's original with me, but may have traveled far over the years. Just out of curiosity, has anyone bumped into this tale before?
