But, as it transpired, Bolshevism did not "work." We don't know what would have happened to the Nazis if they hadn't started WWII. One thing we do know is that it's unlikely that anyone would have tried to stop them from killing all their Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, and handicapped.

Nazism wasn't around long enough to develop the sort of academic tradition the Soviets had. Those cats had Party academies devoted to studying and applying Leninist Reality. What we know of these schools is that you simply DID NOT challenge the basic premises, even when Occam's Razor screamed for a simpler explanation. So I submit that these two "closed, logical" ethical frameworks failed the internal consistency test.
