This company has had phenominal growth over the past several years. Plantronics, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets lightweight communication headsets and headset accessories and services. PLT also manufactures specialty telephone products. For the six months ended 9/27/97, net sales rose 19% to $110.6 million. Net income rose 28% to $17.7 million. Revenues reflect increased sales in the international market. Net income also reflects increased gross margins due to improved manufacturing efficiencies and cost reduction programs. Recent Earnings Announcement For the quarter ended DEC 1997, revenues were 62,017; after tax earnings were 10,421. Management Effectiveness Return on Assets (ttm) 26.75% Return on Equity (ttm) 142.88%! They were public a few years ago, then a leverage buy-out took them private. They went public again several years ago with great success. They have instituted a buy-back program recently as well as profit sharing and equity plans for employees. My only concern is the low trading volume. It is typically around 18K/day. | ||||||||||||||
