Here's some information to get started. The Struthers name has been recognized in the swine industry for over 40 years. It was Struthers Inc., the licensor, working in conjuction with the University of Toronto and Dr. David McLennan, that first identified the mutation of the DNA sequence that causes Porcine Stress Syndrome (PSS). Embryo transfer is a much more efficient process, requiring only one generation to create a totally new blood line, in about four months. Embryo transfer is the removal of an embryo from a genetically superior animal, and introducing it into a surrogate host. This has been done in other large animals commercially, but has never successful in hogs due to their intricate physiological makeup.
