The purpose of starting a new thread on Compaq computers is to attract purposeful and useful discussion on the future of the world's Number #1 PC maker.

I would like to propose that only interested investors participate in discusssion on this "thread". Another words, if you don't have something meaningfull to say PLEASE refrain from distracting those that do. No one cares whether you are short on CPQ or own DELL or Gateway ( BTW, I own all three). Petty comments and gossip are a waste of our time.

First let me say that I am long CPQ. I managed to get in in the mid $20's and I am satisfied with the returns realized so far. Further, I am of the opinion that the synergies soon to be realized from the aquisition of Digital will enhance shareholder value. I believe that CPQ is undervalued relative to the other "box" makers. This, I believe is attributable to the analysts/market being unable to access the value of the combination of CPQ/DEC. This uncertainty is the basis of opportunity in the stock market. The window of opportunity will narrow once the speculation becomes a reality.

Let's begin a meaningfull discussion on the the future direction of Compaq !
