I am new to investing, but have been programming for a while. It seems the talkers on this site (about Borland, at least) are all bulls.

But, being new to investing (recently having read motley fool's book), I have learned that you should not get emotional about a stock. The question is: What does the MARKET say will happen to Borland stock?

I know I am a small investor, and you are all too. But the stock is in steady decline. Shorting a stock has nothing to do with your current position (ie, if you already own shares). It merely means that you are borrowing shares now, and will pay for them when the stock falls further.

With that said, what do the biggies think of Borland? We want to beat the conventional wisdom. It seems to me that those neophytes are gaga over anything that Microsoft says (reflected in 3 pt runup today, on no VB related news). Thus, maybe in the short term, it will keep falling. The question is -- do I want to solidify that bet by shorting... No one wants to buy at 10.5 and see it fall to 7.

Maybe the opinion of Terence Wilson has some weight? When will the numbers be announced?

I heard this quarter's numbers are shakey. I think BORL will go as though as 7 after the numbers are announced.
