Amarillo Biosciences (NASDAQ:AMAR) is an early stage bio-technology company engaged in developing biologics for the treatment of human and animal diseases. AMAR made an initial public offering of 2.3 million shares of stock in August. The company is currently focusing its research on human health indications for the use of low dose orally delivered natural interferon alpha. AMAR is rather closely held by the following: Hayashibara Biochemical Laboratories Inc. holds a 24.1 percent stake or 1,232,856 common shares. Hayashibara manufactures and supplies oral interferon alpha exclusively to AMAR for human applications outside Japan and animal applications worldwide. Mochida Pharmaceutical Co Ltd holds a 5.9 percent stake or 300,000 common shares. Mochida is a Japanese corporation in the business of developing and marketing ethical drugs, diagnostic reagents, skin care products and medical electronics and equipment.
