Thermo Instrument Systems, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets a broad range of analytical instruments. The company's products are used to detect and measure air pollution, nuclear radioactivity, complex chemical compounds, toxic metals, and other elements in a wide variety of materials. Its atomic emission and atomic absorption spectrometers identify and measure trace quantities of metals in environmental samples, such as soil, water, and wastes and manufactured products, such as foods, drugs, cosmetics, and alloys. Thermo Instrument's FT-IR and FT-Raman spectrometers are designed to determine the chemical composition of materials for chemical research, industrial quality control, and process monitoring applications.
