Virtek Vision Corp. Virtek is a Canadian company traded on the Canadian Dealing Network (symbol:VRTK), located in Waterloo, Ontario and is a spin-off of the Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (PAMI) Lab at the University of Waterloo. There are approximately 14.4m shares outstanding. The company designs and manufactures laser-based vision intelligence systems for use in the aerospace, construction, leather goods and packaging industries. Customers include Boeing, Lockheed and Eurocopter France. Exports to the U.S., Europe and most recently to the Far East, account for 92% of sales. Virtek reported an increase in sales from $215,000 in 1991 to $5.6 million in 1996 for a five-year revenue growth of 2,515%. In the June 1997 issue of Profit Magazine, it was ranked as the 10th fastest growing Canadian company over the past five years. Now led by a marketing-oriented CEO, Virtek's sales have multiplied and the company is now on the verge of profitability.
