AOL's high-speed Internet access a boon to American Alliance's streaming media content
PR Newswire - January 14, 1999 15:48

RICHMOND HILL, ON, Jan. 14 /CNW-PRN/ - In a recent press release, America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) and Bell Atlantic Corp announced their alliance to provide high-speed Internet access at speeds up to 640 kilobits per second, which is more than 20 times faster than dial-up connections most AOL members use now. With availability to begin this summer, this marks AOL's entry into the broadband Internet access market, which is currently being served by such companies as At Home Corp (NASDAQ: ATHM), a national supplier of broadband Internet programming using cable TV networks and high-speed cable modem equipment.

''The availability of high-speed Internet access around the country is a boon to streaming media content,'' comments Mr. Kesar S. Dhaliwal, American Alliance's recently appointed President and CEO. ''With high-speed Internet access, online users can peruse a wide range of audio and video programming, which will make American Alliances's business of streaming a wide variety of media significantly more enjoyable, while at the same time, dramatically expanding our audience. We could not be more pleased with these developments.''

Mr. Dhaliwal continues, ''The Internet is changing the commercial landscape of major industries. Look at the gaming business, for example, where Starnet Communications (OTC BB: SNMM) and GIC Global Intertainment (OTC BB: GGNC) are using creative marketing and leading edge technology to give gaming enthusiasts online options. Even magazine publishers and telephone headset vendors, such as Millionaire.com (OTC BB: MLRE), Individual Investor (NASDAQ: INDI) and Hello Direct (NASDAQ: HELO) are discovering the advantages of using the Internet to expand their business. Everything is evolving and improving.''

American Alliance Corporation (Symbol: AMRE) is an aggregator and broadcaster of targeted Internet streaming media content. Through eviewonline.com, the Company offers a large, comprehensive selection of Internet programming, including sports, news, business and finance, health and medicine, technology, politics, and religion. Among other online content, American Alliance will also broadcast live pay-per-view seminars and entertainment, trade shows, conferences, and training events on a worldwide basis. The Company has offices in Buffalo, NY, Richmond Hill, Ontario, and opening soon in London, and Singapore.
