Introduction Compact

Ok, it's not publicly held, I believe their stores are only in parts of California, and I don't think they even have a web page. But for many of us West Coast tech types, Fry's Electronics is truly the Mecca of gadgetry that we love to hate!

Possible areas of discussion:

Reminiscing by old-timers who did their grocery shopping there?

The recurring health problems of those who still do all their grocery shopping there?

The longest you've ever looked for a salesperson to help you?

The irony of Fry's circa 1986 point-of-sale system (no barcodes, proprietary inventory numbers, ancient 386-based computer system).

Have you ever been so desperate to buy an item that you actually took one of the boxes marked "This item has been returned"?

What's with the Tiki God and Alice in Wonderland themes, anyway?

Has proximity to a Fry's ever been a factor in your choice of a place to live?

During heated arguments, has your girlfriend or significant other ever cited excessive visits to Fry's as one of your fundamental flaws?

Have you ever attained Top Gun status (which I will hereby define as three visits in a day NOT involving the return of items previously purchased)?

Have you ever taken pity on a customer being given outdated or flat-out wrong advice by a Fry's salesperson, and steered the fellow customer in the right direction?

Why is it that, three times out of four, I walk over to the removable storage area (which is way over in the corner of most Fry's) only to find that someone just farted there and beat a hasty retreat?

Everyone has a pet peeve about this place, yet we keep coming back. Let's talk about it!
