DELL Annual Shareholders' Meeting - 1999 and ????
In July of 1997, a small group of DELL shareholders (Sig and Jan, Darrell and Nancy, Bachman and Alison) met in Austin for the annual meeting. We repeated that event in 1998 with a somewhat larger group (~30).
Our 1998 activities included a factory tour and briefing, attendance at the shareholders' meeting, and a chance to meet Michael Dell in person. We also enjoyed some of what Austin has to offer: restaurants, entertainment, and the music scene. More than that, we had the fun of getting to know each other and meeting the faces 'behind the posts'. Some folks thought it was great fun and hinted that we might want to do it again. ;^}
So, I am prepared to help organize a similar event for 1999, if there is any interest. ;^}
The date of the DELL Computer Corporation 1999 Annual Shareholders' Meeting will be on Friday, July 16th. I am starting this thread to see what interest there may be in scheduling a get-together similar to the one last year, to get an idea of what activities we would be interested in, and to keep a running record of developments away from the main thread.
If there is sufficient interest, I can negotiate better hotel and entertainment rates. One of the highlights last year was dining together. If group dining is desired, we need to make reservations and arrangements ahead of time. Sullivan's made a superb effort to accommodate our group without advance notice, but I'm sure they (or any restaurant) would prefer prior arrangements for larger groups.
Because of good feedback, I am tentatively planning to schedule Esther's Follies for Friday evening after the shareholders' meeting. This is a Variety-Vaudeville type show with a heavy dose of satire, music and magic.
