"MW Medical began development of a microwave device for minimally invasive cosmetic surgery in April 1996. The Company has patents pending for various cosmetic applications of its technology and proprietary designs of applicators that are capable of directing controlled pulses of microwave energy to the skin. A coolant is applied simultaneously to provide anesthesia and protect the surface of the skin from damage.

The minimally invasive cosmetic surgery market exceeds $3.5 Billion annually in service and capital equipment in North America alone. Lasers for cosmetic surgery are currently being used for hair removal, for the treatment of vascular lesions such as port-wine stains and spider veins, and for facial resurfacing. MW Medical is confident that its microwave technology will be effective over a greater range of skin and hair types than laser hair removal devices while causing minimal discomfort, and will also provide a superior method for the treatment of spider veins in the legs and facial wrinkles. MW Medical expects to sell 1,500 units by the end of the year 2000."
