BUSINESS SUMMARY:

Trend Micro Incorporated (Nasdaq: TMIC) is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and develops, markets and supports anti-virus software and management solutions for enterprise-wide computer systems and personal computers. Our products deliver virus protection at each access point within the corporate network where data files are exchanged.

We have entered into strategic partnerships with Check Point, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM/Lotus, Lucent Technologies, Microsoft and Oracle which include cooperative marketing activities such as these vendors' referral of customers to our products and reference to our products in their product literature and websites. Our agreements with these vendors also typically provide for co-development and licensing arrangements so that our and the vendors' products operate smoothly when used together. Trend Micro's products have evolved with the development of the anti-virus software market as a whole. To meet increased demand for network-based products as companies shifted from stand-alone desktop personal computers to client-server enterprise networks in the early 1990s, we introduced LANprotect, our first server application, in 1993. To address the increased risk of virus infection for enterprise networks resulting from widespread use of the internet, we introduced InterScan VirusWall in 1997 to provide real-time scanning at the internet gateway. In 1998 we introduced Trend Virus Control System to enable network-wide anti-virus software monitoring, updating and management from a central management console.

Major Corporate and government end users of our anti-virus software and management tools include Chase Manhattan Bank, Merrill Lynch, Microsoft, Nomura, Pacific Bell, Yamaha Corporation, Toyota, the Japanese Ministry of Home Affairs, the U.S. Veterans Administration and Viacom.

Trend Micro CEO Steve Chang Receives Business Week's Stars of Asia Award

Cupertino, Calif. — June 09, 1999 — Trend Micro, Inc., the leader in centrally managed virus protection, today announced that Steve Chang, president and CEO of Trend Micro, Inc., was, for the second consecutive year, chosen as one of "The Stars of Asia". Business Week called the winners "visionaries who have embraced the new economy." Consisting of policy makers, entrepreneurs, managers, financiers, and opinion shapers, winners included Zhu Rongji, Premier of China, Ken Kutaragi, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and Kim Dae Jung, president of Korea.
