The Laboratory's president is the Nobel Laureate Dr. James Watson. Mr. Blankman, who has been associated with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 50 years, served for more than fifteen years as Vice President for Communications and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Nassau County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In April 1991, the National Eagle Scout Association (MESA) awarded him the rank of Distinguished Eagle Scout; at that time, an honor shared by fewer than 800 Americans. The Nassau County Council presented him its Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award in 1992.
