The machinery behind the massive vote counting of Election 2000 is as old as the Bridges of Madison County. And like those bridges, it isn't the counting machine's ability to function that is the problem, it is the ability of modern day politics to function when restricted by the left over infrastructure of yesteryear.

The current face of politics these two candidates are showing to the public is interesting though. Bush, trying to be presidential with a low profile until the results are official, looks ever worried when the cameras do find him. Gore, ever mindful of his public persona, is shot with the camera playing ball and enjoying the American way of life in Disneyesque psudorealistic contrast to the political drama unfolding in the ballot counter's corner, with literally billions of dollars in spent campaign funds riding on the outcome.

Fie! fie. Must we pretend to care of the outcome when the choice process itself is an insult!

And the unspoken OUTRAGE of this disgrace to the American heritage and our successful technocracy! Are we not the leaders of the world in making Democracy work?

When the outcome of all the massive election expenditures from both Republicans and Democrats comes down to less than 1,000 votes, is it not shameful that tens of thousands of honestly intended votes are disqualified and cast aside on technicalities related to SYSTEM ERRORS!

WHAT WE NEED ARE FEDERALLY MANDATED MODERN STANDARDS FOR FEDERAL ELECTION COUNTS.

 Care to discuss it?
