I'm frustrated. In my search for a good backtesting engine, I've yet to find one that satisifies my need, so I figured I should just write my own. I know we have a lot of talented programmers here who also understand TA software, so I think we ought to pool our efforts and right the ultimate trading software and give it away; just like Linux. I propose this software be written in Java for portability, have offline and online capabilities (if I had a nickel for everytime I wanted to run backtests while sitting on an airplane...), a pluggable framework for writing custom studies, a generic framework for pluggable data feed providers, a browser interface (in case I want to check my charts from my Palm VII while at lunch!), portfolio tracking, and so on...
How about? Who's interested?
