Technology Stocks
STOCKS FOR THE COMING CONFLICT

I decided to start this thread for a number of reasons.

1. The coming conflict is going to probably last for years and the markets may be rough and volatile for years. That's what can happen in war. There won't be a lot of places to go for suitable stock plays for at least a while except perhaps those that will figure in some way with this developing war.

2. We need threads that concentrate on the evolving situations we will confront so investors can more easily locate and focus on those companies which may be involved in the sectors that are listed below. There already is one fine thread I know of on SI (Defense plays in motion) with the defense sector post WTC as its focus and there will be more. The only difference here is that the thread is confined to small cap/microcap stocks.

3. I have been investing in, studying and collecting microcap stocks for at least 15 years and have a vast collection companies in various categories. I may be able to shed some light on companies that investors are not yet familiar with.

4. I have a penchant to overwhelm a stock or situation with information. Here I can overwhelm with abandon ref this subject and not impose on other threads. The monitors of the general threads I have been posting on have been most gracious and I hope to continue to post on those threads outside of this subject matter.

Sectors and niches for this thread:

1. Aerospace and defense/offense...defense in the standard areas that generally come to mind, offense same. Some companies are only partially defense/offense and that's fine. In fact with most small cap comanies very few have the resources to be soley defense oriented.

2. Homeland defense-companies involved in bioterrorism, chemical warfare, environmental monitoring and testing, counter-terrorism etc.

3. Technology/IT/misc companies that figure into the aftermath of the disaster, the rebuilding of NYC, or have some special slant/service/product that fit any of the above categories.

4. Security in all its aspects at home and abroad in any way shape or form that is relevant to us as citizens or our armed forces.

Rules for the road:

1. Microcap/small cap only please. Try and keep a $5.00 limit unless it is an exceptional situation. It is a core belief of mine that leverage properly applied to microcaps can be successful if you have the right candidate and proceed with an abundance of caution and homework.

2. Any and all participants are welcome. But please if you post a company state your reasons and back it up. I am very serious about that. Time is short and not all of us can run down every symbol just posted on its own.

3. Absolutely no hype. You can be enthused about a company...that's normal. You can even cheer a bit but please don't go overboard. I welcome waving our flag here and will also accept reasoned and well thought out dissent. That is part of what we are all about.

4. Questions or comments on the economy in general and particular and associated markets are also welcome. We need to know where we are economically to figure out where we are going and how we are going to get there.

5. I would like to keep precious metals/fossil fuels out of the picture here as they pertain to individual stocks. There are many other threads on SI that focus on those subjects. If one of those areas runs amuck I will do a rethink.

6. Initially I am going to try and set up a portfolio for this thread (I'm technically challenged but will give it a shot) to start things off although that may change over time. If it proves to be too cumbersome, time consuming or a problem in other regards I will drop it.

7. Initially this will be a monitored thread. That may change as I see how things evolve. I would rather just leave it alone. I will be here off and on as my own schedule is tight.

Disclaimer:

Frankly I don't know what is required here. I will list those things that I think make sense...that's all I can do.

1. I may own stocks I post here, I may sell them, I may rebuy them, I may do both in a day and I may or may not respond to questions as to whether I own a stock or not. We all have different dynamics in our portfolios and whether I sell or buy a stock may have absolutely nothing to do with whether I think it is a good company or not or how I feel about its fundamentals or future potential.

2. You can be certain that if I do own a stock it is on the same basis as anyone else. I will not accept anything from anyone in any way as an inducement to write about a company.

3. Microcaps and small cap stocks are one of the highest risk investments out there period. You can and at times probably will LOSE ALL YOUR INVESTMENT in a company. Don't be swayed or influenced by what I or others write...do your own homework each and every time.

4. I am accepting the fact that we are all responsible adults and thus responsible for our own decisions. You are the only one that can make a buy or sell decision. Use your head and use whatever God given talents you possess to play this game to win but know in the first and last instance it is you who makes the call.

5. I reserve the right to drop the thread or my participation in it. Who knows what is going to happen down the road? These are uncertain times with unknown consequences and as the days and months play out life may suddenly change.

That's about it except for one thing, one thing much more important than anything above. Let's always keep in mind our beloved country is in harm's way, and let's never stop praying for those we have lost already and those that we may lose in the months and maybe years ahead. Those of you who know me know how I feel about charity and helping others. More than at any time in our history we all have to step up and be counted. If this board in any way helps you in the markets please try and support those charitable organizations you favor.
