Why is it that there are so few books, articles and even SI threads on how to sell stocks? It seems that everyone has an opinion on what to buy and when -- and most of us have learned to cut our losses quickly (at least in theory, if not in practice.) How do we handle winners? When should we sell? How much? How much of our profits should we let run? Does it matter if it is a breakout or a steady gainer? The intent of this thread is to discuss the theory and practice of selling stocks, including a discussion of individual stocks. This is not about short selling, but about taking profits in long positions. | ||||||||||||
