Just a forum for anyone following Sanofi. They just reported 18% earnings growth for 2004 and are projecting the same again for 2005. Had a nice pop in the last couple of days. I bought some some time ago playing the Acomplia / Rimonabant angle. That is, the "miracle" pill that is supposed to help you lose wait, quit smoking, stop drinking, stop cheating on your spouse - err, they haven't published any evidence for the latter. But get the drift. I want to play this until they get FDA approval for commercialization of this pill. I compare my expectations with the experience of the makers of Viagra - look at Pfizer's stock performance leading up to the approval of it. Sanofi also has ~half the manufacturing capacity for any flu vaccine, and there is pressure growing for government funding to develop more capacity to forestall any avian flu pandemic and other threats.

Sanofi is a French company, reports in euros but still gets a major share of its income in dollars from America. Early in 2004, they acquired Aventis and have been claiming earnings benefits from "synergies," i.e., many poor sods are likely getting the axe. They trade as ADRs on the NYSE.
