Dear Mr. Glenn Zagoren
Glenn I'm not sure if you remember me, but in December of 1998 I met with you and David Walker in your offices on 5th AVe. and spoke w. both of you for approx. 2 hrs.
(click link of report I wrote Message 8686639 if you need a quick re-accounting- I also took pictures of you and your offices to share w. others)
When we met, you were very confident that PNL's b-model at the time would be so attractive because of its content so as to attract 20,000 or so members quite literally "overnight" especially because of your announced and soon to be announced relationships with COC's of various countries.
Well, as we all know in business, not everything comes to fruition as originally envisioned, plus things shift or evolve both as better opportunities present themselves and good ideas aren't always accepted by the market place.
Now the reason I'm writing you , is to get some basic questions answered as to how PNL is going to generate revenues comparable to those revenues that were projected to come from memberships.
I ventured into the Temple aka as the Silicon Investor PNL "thread", where you've been known to make a post or two. (Click link) Message 13848474
There were one or two sincere responses regarding some analysis I raised, but the vast majority of retorts were questioning my purported motivations. Seems as if the money changers, thought I entered their "temple" to overturn their tables "again".
Of course from my position on the grassy knoll, according to the conspiracy theorists, I took aim to shoot down their beloved ProNetLink for dark desultory forces and illicit personal gains.
I wrote some additional replies to some of the few attempts made at intelligent engagement and dialogue. Please review these links immediately below

I also provided some reference material regarding the premises of branding and the limitations and cost of branding in an environment where every TomNet, DickNet and JaneNet is vying for attention:

Again rather than retort or rebuke with information that would clarify where I'm mistaken with my criticisms, the people who have posted daily to this thread for nearly 3 years could only reply primarily with insults and innuendos
Rather than provide me with their vaunted 'dd', these zealots continually and quite ineptly try to nail me to a cross for purported heresies of "p & d" and day trading neither of which I do. (Disclosure- I own 5,000 share in my Roth. If PNL goes to 100 one day, I'll be happy. If PNL goes to zero, I will not be upset. PNL, for me is a long term hold, if the plane ever takes off, I'll be comfortable in Coach with just my two pieces of carry-on luggage).
Well, anyway, the whole point of my emailing you is to please ask you to read through , at least, some my above recent messages posted on the Silicon Investor PNL thread to directly address some of my concerns expressed in those messages, especially since the PNLker's- your cult members- don't seem capable to do so. As an aside, most of them do however have very nice pairs of black Nike gym shoes.
My basic concern is how do you intend to make money with your current b-model? Reading your latest 10 k & 10q, obviously 20,000 members didn't join "overnight". The advertising emphasis generated more real revenue. In my opinion the barter "income" should have had a big foot note explaining that barter revenue is the value associated with goods or services received for goods or services given. Thus, in reality, 4 oranges for 2 cucumbers and an eggplant is revenue neutral. (even though the bartering widens your exposure potentially leading to greater "real" revenues). So when you back out the barter "income/expense" line item. PNL only made for the entire last year net revenues of $51,000. Thus as far as I'm concerned, your reporting is tantamount to how etailers include the cost of the product they sell in their gross revenues to make the PR's and percent increases look like solid growth. To me this is all smoke and mirrors. Furthermore, the first quarter didn't show any significant trending upward.
Thus my second basic concern is if the current "volume" model of selling advertising and infomercials on PNL-TV and PNL's website, along with retrievable archived materials, is really going to work especially in an environment where the rates for advertising get diluted by the ever expanding amount of advertising space available? Especially with the Inet offering so many choices, choices that will only continue to grow as band width is increased and formats compressed.
Obviously, PNL's future comes down to "positioning" itself through its partnerships, services, and content.
But like I wrote in one of my linked to posts above, PNL isn't selling pornography. So even though you are quite literally an internet missionary, PNL's position may not generate the primal interest other positions and positioned perspectives generate. Or, in other less graphically explicit words, do people really wish to buy what PNL has to sell?
So far, and very early in your business cycle, the answer appears to be "no".
70,000 visits (individual impressions?) really isn't very many IMO. Though you quite correctly point out your fiscal prudence to date, and what you have been able to generate and aggregate in spite of these fiscal limitations. Your site and content is IMO very impressive.
Please counter my arguments VOCIFEROUSLY.
Anyway, have to take my hands off the key board and place them back in my pockets, since I just got a call from the Home Depot informing me that Warren Wilbur Jr had just made a large purchase of spikes and nails.
Thanks for your time, attention, and consideration.
Sincerely,
Xxxx X Xxxx xxx-xxx-xxxx aka "ztect"
