Dan,

This is from Anandtech today - from his memory editorial and i quote:

"RDRAM - 800MHz of crap?

I'm sure you've read all about the benchmarks on RDRAM and how the i820 (Camino) is inferior in every single way to the BX chipset and the usual rants and raves. I'm here to tell you that not all of these benchmarks are unfounded, in fact, there is quite a bit of truth to the current performance of RDRAM on the 820. "

This looks terrible.

Anandtech is very CREDIBLE.

regards,

Kash

Perhaps with Rambus, you need more memory?
This testimonial does not jibe at all with my own experience. With similar motherboards, one with BX and 2x AGP and the other with 820 and 4X AGP there was a noticable increase in performance for the Rambus system. In some bios implementations a great deal of the processor can be tied up in SMI (System management Interrupts) for systems running USB peripherals and power management schemes. This is an issue with new features other than Rambus.

RE: <I can't take a picture of it. My rep at Intel said that's a no-no. However, the good news is I am allowed to say all about how it performs and what it includes.>

Does anyone know this "got apex" guy? Why would an Intel rep give him a Mobo to use and report on? Isn't all Camino info embargoed until 9/27?

Dan,

Also...

Time for someone from Intel or Rambus to step up with some final numbers, before Intel goes back to $45, and Rambus goes to $10. If this is a hoax or a fabrication, someone from Intel should say so.

I think gotapex has solved the problem themselves.

In case you missed it the first time through...

The i820 product will be a success, I have absolutely no doubt. -- from the latest gotapex review of Camino.
