Sounds like the cache is filling up the hard drive. You can set in your browser how much disk space you wish to use. A full drive will reek havoc your system.

Are you getting any type of streaming input? quotes, chat room, etc.. If your drive only has 540megs left then you should clear some out.

My other guess is memory but you should be fine w/160. Does your system recognize it all? My system tends to bomb after awhile with a couple of Java applets running at once and chat room, si, etc.. all open. Really hogs the resources. I have 96mb RAM in a 200mhz.

good luck

OT<i am having exasperating problem with memory resources management >

humm sounds like you have a cache problem, figure out how to clear the with various programs if they use a cache. Also check how much RAM memory you have allocated for each program.

I am MAC guy since 1983, never used windows on personla machine.

Hope this helps.

sepku.... Kaliico may be onto a good idea. Navigator puts a lot of stuff into cache... I clean mine out regularly

In windows Find, type cache, then open each and see what you have. Internet cached files might look something like MV0GT109h and if you haven't clean there may be 1000's of them.... select all, recycle bin, empty.... Other programs may do similar things...
