agree with your every word except that msft can fight back once it doesn't have to deal with an absolute idiot like jackson

"What do you guys think ?"

this case still has a long way to go. remember a monopoly is not necessarily illegal. listen to pbs news hour where this is discussed.

A little over dramatic for my account. It's only the first step.

Jean: Do not be pessimistic as Catcher points out we are now out of the grip of Jackson and we will be able to go to the Appeals Court where this guy has been overturned before.

The rhetoric used by the judge is not surprising and is consistent with his behavior throughout the case. I think this will all work to MSFT's benefit on Appeal. Judge is trying to conceal a predjudicial judgement in a "finding of fact". Not very subtle. JFD

Jean, I have always respected your posts, but calm down!

1) There is no such thing as a clintonista. blankmind made up that term

2) It is not a total disaster for MSFT. Let's digest the news and see how they respond

3) I do agree that with this case American business cuts off its nose to spite its face

Yep, dead money for more than 6 months. No settlement here. This Justice Dept. has been out of control for the past 7 years. One hope would be to set up an appeal and Bush's Justice Dept. could finish the case in 2001.

The one thing I heard was that we consumers were hurt by MSFT bundling its explorer and depriving netscape of hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. That revenue would have come fom consumers--that dumb shit. I, for one, am glad I get a lot of stuff for free (a la MSFT).

Jean ... express your opinions with your congressmen!!!!

I agree..... not encouraging for Microsoft...and I feel furious with this myopic, old world judgement from Jackson.

worse case is that product cycles are delayed (god forbid)...

next, that some type of limitations/holds are leveraged on the company (which could affect product cycles and stock)...

After the release of Jackson's statement, I wanted to communicate my furor, I went to the Microsoft site... found the Freedom to Innovate forum; a place to communicate with your political representatives.

yes.. i think this whole issue is going to be raised to political issues.. and every person's opinion needs to be expressed to their congressmen, and representatives.

If you're a capitalist, if you believe in a free economy, if you believe in innovation; you have to say something through the forum.

(see link for DOJ vs. the Freedom to Innovate) near the lower left hand corner

Best regards,
Laura

I am very disappointed, I am NOT selling, but my LEAPS now are going to lose time value, and this will be dead money for at least 6 months..

All you had to do is read the information about Microsoft's business practices... If you had you would have known that what Microsoft was doing was not right.. not fair... and probably illegal.

The problem is that you Microsofties are thinking with your $$$, not thinking about what is "RIGHT"...

Cheers...
