Techinvestor,.Re:.serious reservations about PaineWebber's $1000 target on QCOM,

You might be interested in this summary of some of the possible glitches associated with Q. Although I have a small position, it's not exactly clear, to me anyway, that CDMA will be the prevailing global wireless standard. <g> Much more comfortable with JDSU and SDLI.

<<suspect it had a private agenda when it came out with such a huge revision on QCOM. I'd be willing to bet its key clients knew of the revised target well prior to the announcement.>>

PaineWebber did not revise anything. They initiated coverage with an initial target.

Tecinvestor, unlike PW, you have not substantiated your doubt about the Q price target. PW's target was based on the QCOM business model, market position, and market growth. It was not based on some indeterminant thing like a Y2K IT lockdown that would have affected SUNW. The two are totally unrelated.

Dear Tech, with such a major revision upwards on the Q stock, it is hard for me to believe that Paine Weber traders are not selling Q as the shares rise in price.

It would be in their financial interest to do so. I have never spoken with a Paine Weber broker or trader. I do not follow the firm but if I were a trader for the firm, I would sell Q as it moved upward over these past few days if I were allowed to do so.

In my opinion only. I do not own Q.
