Z, excellent info in your post, appreciated as always. However, I hope you have given thought to weather. A lil rain (or snow as in today's case) and you'll be down. A wireless ISP is great if you live in the right areas. Good luck.

Regards,
Hasan

Zeus,

For a laptop under $2000, Howard Hansen steered me in the direction of the IBM iSeries. Their ThinkPad i1480 is $1917.44 at ecost.com and comes with a Celeron 466, 64MB RAM, 6.4GB HD, DVD, 56Kbps modem, 14.1" TFT display and Windows '98.

The Toshiba 2105CDS has a dual scan screen. I tried the ThinkPad i1420 with dual scan screen and found the display very dim. I am actively looking for a laptop as well and, in my opinion, I would opt for a TFT screen over the dual scan technology for trading.

Regards,

Sue :)

Zeus,

"Best deal on a laptop?? min 64 MB ram and 4 gig harddrive...processor?? I don't want to go overboard. I have at least until June to decide as the wireless service is not yet available. $1200 12 inch Toshiba...2105CDS..400MHz AMD® K6 64MB RAM and 4 gig HD csd.toshiba.com;

I just found the same computer (Toshiba Satellite 2100CDT) but with the much better TFT screen for $1299.99 at ecost.com! Very good deal for a TFT-equipped laptop!

ecost.com

Hope this helps.

Sue :)
