Why I think debates about SI Terms of Use are a joke:

This one is funny, and extra funny to send to someone taken aback by ferret legging. And the joke's on me, sort of. Oddly, this is the only post I ever complained to Bob any SI admin about, in my long posting history on SI, and I wouldn't have done that either unless Bob hadn't stumbled on a message to me from another of the "Sanity" denizens who followed me onto a stock thread and got himself booted. Doubly oddly, that other guy had posted about getting people booted by Bob, and had proudly proclaimed that he was reporting me, too. Which lead me to adopt a somewhat sarcastic attitude about the Sanity guys whining to Bob, which in turn lead to the post quoted below.

Anyway, without further ado, hopefully with no clue as to the identity of the author. The parts inside > < are from me.

Yes. Hesh.

>I stopped for a while, and totally ignored the hostility. Did it make the least bit of difference? Did anybody notice?<

As long as you leave your hostilities in the forum, without a rejection that would effectively eliminate them, they ever remain in full force. No one noticed you because they no doubt assumed you to be the fecal minded pot of mucus you in fact are. Nullify your filth, then should you be inappropriately assaulted whine to mamma. Until then, you are but liberal scum, powerless to insult anyone.

>I don't like the Limbotic style. I've used a wide range of tones in response to it. Nothing matters.<

You've used merely a wide range of liberal fecal matter until you eliminate what is your nature to distribute on these forums. You spread feces and then when that fails begin to spray urine, and then you expect people to think highly of you. Well they don't. You whine about Bob, but you're still a slob.

>The only reason I persist is that it bothers me to see Limbots drive everybody else away from every political forum here.<

A lot more than the Limbots bother you, you whinning liberal maggot. Eliminate your nature, then whine to mamma. Until then, you are merely liberal slime, and Bob should merely let you lie in the muck where you belong.

>Occasionally reasonable people show up, post a couple things, and realize what a pit this is. What a waste for so-called "substantive debate".<

You are helpless to remove yourself from the pit, and so you whine about Bob. "Oh Bob,
please hep me aginst dees limbodic mens!" In fact you are the pit, the filthy core of it. Nullify your filth, then rise up and try (no doubt vainly) to be a man.

>So, XXXXXXX, you filthy good Christian you, what would you suggest to improve civility around here? Have everybody echo the correct RR views whether they hold them or not?<

Hopefully you now understand what you must do to help improve civility around here. If you are too prideful to do it, then stay in the pit. You try to blame others for the lack of civility here, when you perpetuate it as well as anyone else. You hypocrite.

Well, this post caused me some travail, not because of the abuse, which is funny enough, I reposted it on a humor thread here, after Bob removed the original at the end of my somewhat desultory dialog with him. The problem is, my dialog with Bob introduced me to the "get a cup" unwritten TOU clause. Before that, I was a bit restrained about counter abuse with your pals on the "hockey stick" threads. After, well, what can I say? Eventually, I discovered that the unwritten "get a cup" TOU clause doesn't apply when you call Vaughn a crapmeister for equating Clinton with Hitler, or if you take Neocon's name in vain. The guys sure can dish it out, though.

Like I said, it's all a joke, and I refuse to take SI TOU lectures or debates seriously. Bob's got a tough job, and I don't hold anything against him. The rest of the guys, who cares, anyway? They own "Sanity" and everywhere else politics comes up on SI, and they come close enough to owning this thread too, when they get fired up over something.

As Gen. "Buck" Turgidson once said, "You can't fight in here, this is the war room".

Cheers, Dan.

NYTimes: AlGore lied about his war record, among all the other lies:

Getting the Gore Lies Straight
By: Jack Shafer
Posted Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at 3:35 p.m.

While engaging in some "investigative drinking" with the journalists covering the New Hampshire primary, Mickey Kaus discovered that that the press thinks Al Gore is a liar. Today's New York Times confirms Kaus' findings by cataloging Gore's many, many prevarications ("Questions Over Veracity Have Long Dogged Gore")....

Well, Edwarda, if SI Bob actually believes what he says when he comments that each Coffee Shop thread essentially sets its own standard of conduct, and that he suggests people remove their bookmarks from the thread in question when they become bothered by posts, I am wondering why that doesn't also apply to Feelings, which was a Coffee Shop thread the last time I checked.

Why, then, does Feelings sometimes require monitoring by SI Bob?
