I believe it to be Blabby's friends, SSB, ML etc. and the
over reporting of that on CNBC. Unloading a bit of tech
cause Naz will not grow is a self-filling prophecy.

Pat, I was actually glad to hear that Merrill's McGabe was getting somewhat bearish on the techs this morning. Considering how long he has felt this way (several years I believe), I took it as a sign that the Nasdaq is about to go higher.

The worst thing is to get is a perrenial bear turning bullish. Joe Batapaglia is getting bullish on tech. Others that are important are Tom Galvin and Jeffery Applegate. and especially Abbey Cohen

Like I stated earlier, you want the bears to remain bearish. That is good for the Naz. It usually signals an upward move for the Nasdaq.

That is why I think we will rally into the close, maybe even getting about a 50 to 100 point gain in the Naz.
(hoping for such a gain of course as it is down 170 now)

This is about as bullish I have been (recently)on the prospects for JDSU in the coming months.
I think it went down too much and now has reversed directions. The fundamentals of their business is just too good. I think the investors who were worried about its incredible gains in the last year have probably trimmed their positions significantly (just speculating).

Then there is always the phase IV mystery although many believe it has to do with wireless.

Pat, I agree with you in regards to CNBC. It seems that instead of reporting the news, they are trying to create it by taking anything negative and running with it. It seems like they can't find enough people to talk negative about the market instead presenting things in a more balanced way. I guess they figure by scaring people they can increase their ratings. Also, don't you find it irritating how they have MARKET SELLOFF running up the screen next to the averages to emphasize things. I find that to be very tabloid in nature (I hope that analogy makes sense).
Don't get me wrong, I don't expect them to paint the picture entirely rosy. I find it good to hear both the bearish side and the bullish side. I just have a problem with the way CNBC makes everything so one sided, that is why I turn more and more to Bloomberg in the morning and CNN in the evening.

Pat,

There seemed to be a confluence of tech non-friendly reports today, specifically at "speculative" tech (whatever that is.....) and internets (what else?).

I didn't see any names.

Are opticals "speculative" tech? I guess it depends who you ask. Biotechs might be, sure. How about semiconductors? Again, I don't think so, but I didn't make these calls.

If anyone finds the details of these reports,I'd like to see them. I will post what I find.

Steve
