Me too, ehopper.

There are definitely more enlightening subjects that remain to be disussed here.

ehopper,

<< I find it so tiring this QCOM vs NOK argument ... Perhaps a better topic would be ... NOK vs Motorola ... QCOM vs Texas Instruments >>

With QCOM out of the infastructure and handset business, I have the same feeling.

It seems to me there is great potential (not yet realized) for synergy between Nokia & Qualcomm.

... obviously some major IP issues to settle, but ...

Agree ehopper NOKIA clearly should remain the leader in handsets It seems the potential threat is more from ASIAN manufacturers than anything Samsung, LG Hyundai, Kyocera who are well established in CDMA .

ehopper, you should look more often to stay up to date.

So, you last looked in December 1996? Message 13781120

You are right for Nokians to worry about Motorola [and Lucent and Ericy]. Nokia is the one which is very short on royalty agreements with QUALCOMM. Motorola has got nice cheap royalty payments to make thanks to very old agreements. Nokia is shut out of 3G at the moment. Ericy is in, thanks to what might be the coup of the century in getting a late licence from Q! at absurdly cheap rates.
