This isn't a machine! its a chipset, and an alpha test platform. No firm date for when Joe public will be able to buy a machine.

Nice try BILOW but that is an ACER machine not an AMD machine. You can never stoop too low or split a hair too fine. <G>

The AMD machine is too use AMD DDR chipset. It is not here!

Bilow... ALI DDR? ridingthebus from yahoo has some different thoughts regarding this matter. Remember what I posted to multi...

DDR Mobo is here but...

IWILL announced their DDR motherboard but DDR fans shouldn't get too excited just yet. This mobo appears to be the exact same mobo that DDR chipset maker, ALI, refered to as a "non-funtioning mock-up" during Computex 2000 in early June. A quick look at the motherboard pictures shows the critical components are still the same. The Mobo is Vers 0.90 and the ALI DDR chipset is Rev. #1234567000A in both pictures.

Quoted from the Anand article:
"We mentioned in our Day 1 Coverage that only one manufacturer would be producing an Athlon board based on ALI's upcoming DDR chipset. That one motherboard manufacturer happens to be Iwill, and above you can see a mockup of their KA266-R. The board they had at Computex wasn't functional but they expect to have it up and running by September. No word yet on when you might be able to buy one, but Iwill was estimating that it will take at least another 3 months after the release of the ALi chipset (final revision) for the VIA DDR Athlon chipset to be complete. Whether or not that is true has yet to be seen."

In their July 26 DDR chipset press release, ALI said they were only sampling at this time and didn't expect to go into production until sometime in Q4. IWill says, they will need at least 3 months minimum after ALI's final revision. DDR is certainly making progress. Just the same, it sounds like the window for a DDR system launch in 2000 is getting narrow.
