Left out one more (and to my thinking, the most important) thing: a Bush presidency in concert with a Republican Senate would stack the Supreme Court with right-wing activists. Declare open season on individual liberties. The country can survive most of Dubya's (just for the sake of providing a label - given his manifest ignorance of his own campaign's proposals it is unlikely he personally had a hand in crafting them) dubious economic proposals - that's only money - but the systematic destruction of individual liberties in the name of "states' rights" or so-called "strict" interpretation of the Constitution is a tragedy that the citizens of this country will suffer from for a generation or more - that's your rights vs. the power of government to insert itself into the most private aspects of your lives.

Other than that omission, flapjack, today you have me rather frustrated: you say most of what I might have wanted to say, except you said it much better than I would have. Ah, well, I'll just tell myself that I still haven't fully recovered from last night.

Tonight on 'Hardball", Chris Matthews and guest William F. Buckley both agreed that Gore decisively won the debate. These two are diehard conservatives too!.........everywhere I looked on cable the polls and pollsters were giving Gore the advantage . Buckley even said that Lieberman was an outstanding choice as VP.........I had never heard Buckley ever say anything nice about democrats. I think he know it's a foregone conclusion that Gore will outdebate Bush everytime.....Bush knows too little about current affairs such as the new abortion pill, Serbia , and the environment. These issues will nail his coffin.

Flap,

Your scenario of there being a triumverate of Republicans in power at the federal gov't level might well be the destruction of the Republican Party. They seem to lead by "pointing the finger". They have been blaming Democrats for all their ills and all the countries ills for as long as I can remember. They have just shown us how to wage the politics of personal destruction.....The only good thing about an all Republican Fed gov't would be that it would probably end the Republican Party as we know it today. All their own lies would be exposed and they would not have anyone else to blame. I can see them still blaming Clinton for things that go wrong years after he leaves office.

One thing would be certain........never again would the country be foolish enough to vote in and all Republican Fed gov't.
