How are they going to intertwine the cards and readers? My point is this: If you have an AmEx Blue Card, you must have that GCR415 reader too. What happens when you get the Visa SmartCard from Gemplus? It won't work on that AmEx Blue Card reader. You must unplug one reader and plug in the other one (and restart your system?).

Have you actually tested this?

It should work.

That is what PC/SC Workgroup is all about. PC/SC compatible products listed here. Check Gemplus website to see what GCR41x products are PC/SC compatible since the 415 is not listed in the table.

You don't get a Visa SmartCard from Gemplus. You get it from the financial institution issuing the card. In the US today that means (Providian, Fleet, or First USA).

I believe Gemplus is supplying the cards to Fleet, or First USA, and CPI/Bull to Providaian.

Theoretically (wonderful word) any PC/SC compliant reader should (wonderful word also) read and write to any of the 3 available Visa IC cards and Amex Blue.

Link seems to be busted. I can't access it.
