What do you think of cases where a woman has told a sexual partner that she was pregnant and needed money for an abortion when she wasn't pregnant? I know women who have done this just to get money. I guess it's just prostitution but not being upfront about it. Maybe there should be a new word for it, prostextortion, maybe.

Seems to me that if a man and woman have sex but agree they don't want children, and they take measures, but the measures fail, and she gets pregnant, she has all the right to decide whether or not the child is born, he has none, and if she decides it is to be born he has no option but to pay about, in this state for average parents, at least $150,000 over the next 18 years for child she said she didn't want and he clearly didn't want, but she has all the decision power and he has none.

IMO there is something more than vaguely wrong with this picture.

"Canadian question: should Canadians be allowed to accept foreign honours? What if those entail a civil standing of power in another society, e.g., House of Lords?"

It's a French English problem. Our Federal government is run by French Canadians with European pretensions and this is how they hit back. Very soon Canada will be two countries probably split at the Manitoba, Ontario border. Hopefully the U.S. steps in and takes over western Canada for our immense water resources.
