"You saying that the US Air Force was incapable of
keeping our President safe, over our own soil, from
hijacked airliners? Nonsense"

I thought you said the President should have gone to Washington. Sounds now like you are suggesting he stayed aloft in AF1.

"No, I believe it is the job of the President to *lead*,
to project confidence and power in the midst of crisis"

And he has done that with close to 90% of the people. How will he ever please the 10% of the population you belong to? Your non-sensical statement above says volumes about your intentions. If he would have gone to Washington directly you would call him an idiot for not keeping safe is my bet. It is too bad there is this 10% defeatist minority that you belong to, but we are used to it, and we will perserver so you can complain in safety in the future.

I've read several of your posts. I've been flabbergasted at the stupidity of your rationale and questions concerning the wise actions of my President in the hours following the attack. I've also seen in your words the taint of ridicule and your disrespect for my President. Maybe you are one of the diehard supporter of the former first impeached and his style of bringing disgrace on the presidency.

What facts were known at the time of the attack. Well about what could be the scope and size of the attack, very little.
What else was known. The FBI traitor has most likely passed detailed information about normal Presidential survival plans and those plans may have been passed to the attackers.
The known scope of effect of this attack was like a Pearl harbor in loss of life.

So you say duhhhhh, could the Airforce not protect AF1. Well protect AF1 from what? If one cannot define the threat then only stupid people would suggest ignoring threats and proceeding along normal protocol.

Now as to returning to Washington. The areas around Washington would be wisely subjected to a wide area comprehensive security sweep to make certain that the helicopters that carry the President back to the White House could travel a very secure route. This is first level common sense.

In the face of such a coordinated wide spread attack that had never happened before the caution of several hours is the only responsible course of action that should have taken place. Any who question this as reasonable are either dumber than a bag of hammers or have the broken glass of hate paining there mind prodding them to strain to find a reason for ridicule.

Your feelings and ignorance of what is reasonable caution is what drives you to make an ass of yourself.

So, again you say the President should have held press conferences.

The first course when the security of Washington is in question is - get the President airborn. Do we KNOW where the President was on Tuesday? We HEARD he was in Luisiana, we HEARD he was in Nebraska. There are more than one aircraft with Air Force One markings, you know. And that is the point - you get the President airborn, you keep the enemy guessing as to his whereabouts - so he can lead the Armed Forces from safety. THAT is his job. Not to get on TV so you can feel better about yourself. Get a shrink if you need that, the President has better things to be doing.
