As I said before, the situation doesn't really have to be solved. Just having Israel behave humanely towards the Palestinians (stopping the settlements, allowing them access to their own water wells, allowing them to build buildings, etc) would massively reduce the animosity the Palestinians harbor towards Israel, and thus the violence. Reducing the flashpoints - like the massive Israeli military presence in the occupied territories, the settlements, the daily bulldozing of Palestinian houses and olive groves - is the single most important thing. Sadly, rational ideas like this are almost absurd, because Israel is increasing these flashpoints - greater military presence, more settlements, continuous bulldozing activities.

Keep in mind that these people (Jews and Christian and Muslim Palestinians) got along for many centuries until the Zionists came along. It was only when the Palestinians caught wind of the Zionist plan to displace them (including labor and product boycotts, buying property from absentee landlords, etc.) that the conflict arose.

As for a solution, I can offer the pipe dream that the U.S. plays honest broker. The U.S. could solve the matter in a heartbeat, by threatening to withhold funds from Israel. But, that will not happen in our lifetime.
