Yes, murder is reason to run her out of the bridge club, regardless of whether or not it was provoked. One can use deadly force to save oneself or someone else from imminent danger, but that is about it. Even cops get in trouble for shooting people when it wasn't necessary.......

?????????????????

Oh, come now, Karen. You're talking murder here. It's not only reason to run her out of the bridge club, it's legitimate reason to run her into the state penitentiary. Or death row.

There is a deterrent effect to be achieved. Not on her. On the next angry wife who wants to kill her husband.

Come on. You are talking possibly the most serious of all crimes. And we should just settle for shunning them and calling them names? That's the punishment you get for the crime of posting on SI. :-)

That would seem to encourage vigilantism.

1 - Your punishment for the initial crime is low, and so many people may not think that justice has been done and will want to do it themselves.

2 - Your punishment for the vigilante killings are low at least as long as they are first offenses so there is less deterrent from the idea of taking the law in to your own hands.
