This is the shocking original crack in a long exchange that precipitated the 'simpleton' discussion. Which I'm not going to continue here because i spent enough time on it yesterday and am busy today not to mention bored with it.

Are you by any chance under the impression that I am an admirer of or defender of Clinton, Laz? If so, where in the world did you get that impression?

Here's the best post taking exception to my use of the word 'simpleton' and defending Bush. I think it's your position:

I replied

I don't know if Bush doesn't care that millions wince. He seemed to be trying hard for a while, which makes it appear to be incapacity rather than unconcern.

He's a "leader" in the sense that setting your jaw and narrowing your eyes and reading speeches written by others and uttering the same platitudes over and over again can make one a leader.

He is a likeable, natural guy, though, and Gore isn't.

I think you've made the best riposte that could have been made. It says to me that you like the trappings of the palanquin Bush is being carried around in, the people who are carrying it, and the direction they're taking it in. And to you it shouldn't matter that the occupant appears to be a simpleton. And maybe you're right. Maybe it's just about a personal prejudice of mine...

So why are you banned from FADG? I didn't know anyone was. Well, I'd assume EV, but why you?
