If you are using explorer hit view on the explorer top bar and then hit text size and put it to the largest or large setting.

Re: His type is way too small, and I can't resize it enough to get it bigger

If you are using IE, click on "Tools" then "Internet Options". Under "General" select "Accessibility".

Check "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages"

You can now resize fonts on any web page.

That's because some sites lock the text size on their page.

BTW, I have been trying the "control key - scroll mouse" thingie on other sites, and it doesn't work on most of them.

How do you resize your window?

In the upper right hand corner of your window are three little buttons. The middle one is a toggle between a full-sized window and a smaller window. Click for a smaller window.

Then you can resize that window by hovering your pointer over any edge of the window until you get the sizing icon, then grabbing the edge of the window and dragging it to whatever size you want. In the lower right corner of the window marked by several diagonal lines is a place where you can grab both length and width at the same time.

I have been trying the "control key - scroll mouse" thingie on other sites

I have a touchpad, not a scroll mouse, so I can't use it. But I have customized my IE toolbar to add a size icon to quickly change font sizes. It's faster than having to go through the View menu to get to the sizer.

His type is way too small, and I can't resize it enough to get it bigger.

There are several ways of altering type sizes.

One of them is to change it in Windows. That will change your desktop and most of your applications. I have an ancient computer--just over three years old--and my Windows ME won't look just like your operating system so I'll just point you in a general direction. Look under the Start menu for Settings/Display and then look behind the Advanced button. There you can set your fonts to "large," which is 125% of standard size.

A second way is to alter your internet fonts. I posted that to Ish.

I think he uses CSS - cascading style sheets - he specifies everything so you can't adapt it.

I just hate it when they do that. All sites should have scalable fonts. Sigh!

The only way I've found to deal with that is to use the magnifier. Look for it under Start/Program/Accessories/Accessibility. It's clumsy but adequate if you're desperate.

Granted, this solution is not the most efficient thing, but
it will increase the font size. If none of the other
suggestions work, you could copy the text into a PM to
yourself. It will then be as large as the text in normal SI
messages. Just reuse the PM by replying to it each time you
want to read something in tiny text.

Not too long ago you and I chatted about local TV news. I thought of you when I read this. It's from the Post's TV Column. In case you missed it...

<<Shannon Bream, a former Miss Virginia and Florida lawyer, is joining Channel 4's news team as the NBC station's new weekend morning anchor.

She replaces Mil Arcega, who left the station last month "to pursue other opportunities," according to Channel 4's vice president of news, Vickie Burns.

Bream will start soon and eventually team with co-anchor Eun Yang, who goes on maternity leave next month.

Bream currently anchors the early-evening and late-night newscasts for CBS affiliate WBTV in Charlotte, where she's worked since 2001. She also has been a reporter and fill-in anchor at Tampa ABC affiliate WFTS.

Before hitting the small screen, Bream specialized in corporate law in Tampa. While there she beat 50 other competitors to be a "citizen panelist" on Bill Maher's now-defunct ABC late-night show, "Politically Incorrect," in fall '99.

In an interview with the Tampa Tribune about that national TV gig, Bream said she was a longtime conservative Republican. The paper also reported that the Tallahassee native graduated from Jerry Falwell's Liberty University and studied law at Florida State.

Bream was crowned Miss Virginia in 1990. She also was a top 10 finalist in the 1991 Miss America pageant and a contestant in the 1995 Miss USA pageant.>>
